Editorial Process
- Manuscripts are submitted for approval to recognised specialists in the themes addressed. Manuscripts are sent for assessment without author identification, to guarantee blind peer review.
- Manuscripts are forwarded to reviewers — all holding at least a doctoral degree or recognised expertise — in the shortest possible time. The selection process involves assessment by ad hoc specialists and by the Editorial Committee, which selects the titles to be published. In the table of contents, articles appear in alphabetical order of author surname, unless an order has been defined by the editor responsible for the issue.
- Exceptionally, work already published in foreign journals may be accepted. In that case it is subject to the same assessment as unpublished work. The author must provide written authorisation from the editor of the journal in which the text was originally published, together with a copy of the article.
- Author: the individual responsible for creating the intellectual or artistic content of a document. Not to be confused with contributors.
- For articles with multiple authorship, the order in which authors are presented must be stated, along with a declaration from each authorising publication;
- Minimum qualification of the lead author: doctoral degree or academic position.
- Manuscripts are published in the language of submission, with preference for work in Portuguese or English. Submissions in other languages may not be processed.
- The journal reserves the right to make normative, orthographic and grammatical changes to manuscripts in order to maintain the standard of the language, while respecting the author’s style. Final proofs are not returned to authors.
- Published work becomes the property of Cultura & Saúde, and its reproduction in whole or in part is subject to the express authorisation of the editorial committee. The original source of publication must be stated. Manuscripts are not returned to authors.
- The opinions expressed in articles are the sole responsibility of their authors.
- The journal classifies assessed submissions into the following sections:
- Articles: complete and previously unpublished reports of concluded studies or research, and comparable contributions.
- Open Channel: communications and descriptions of activities carried out by information systems, services or units.
- Literature review: critical analyses of books, recently published journals, dissertations and theses.
- Editorial: previously unpublished texts of an opinion nature.
- Humour / Chronicles: curiosities or chronicles.
